ABOUT
KILGOUR WILLIAMS CAPITAL
Kilgour Williams Capital are credit management experts with an extensive background in credit, structuring and risk management.
We rose to prominence during the global credit crunch of 2007 as a structured credit advisor helping those corporations, institutions, and retail investors who were hurt by the meltdown of Canada’s $34 billion Third Party Asset-Backed Commercial Paper market. We provided advisory, risk management, valuation, trading, and litigation support to investors, regulators, and investment dealers across Canada and the United States.
Over the ensuing decade, Kilgour Williams advised credit investors whose holdings represented approximately 20% of the paper outstanding – roughly $2 billions. From 2009 to 2017, Kilgour Williams clients typically enjoyed annual returns in the mid to high teens.
In 2017 Kilgour Williams Capital launched KIWI Private Credit Fund to invest in the US small credit market where individual loans range from $5,000 to $300,000. The Fund provides investors access to one of the most diversified and uncorrelated credit markets in North America. In 2021 we launched the Kiwi Business Credit Fund to invest in small business loans, and in 2022 we launched Kiwi Private Credit Fund – Registered Eligible which offers the same portfolio as Kiwi Private Credit Fund and is open to Registered accounts like RRSPs, TFSAs, RRIFs and RESPs. The firm’s principals each have 20 years of senior level experience in managing all forms of credit investments and have an extensive background in credit, structuring and risk management.
TEAM

Principal
Colin Kilgour has been active in the Canadian credit and structured finance market on a full time and continuous basis since 2001. At that time, Colin co-founded a company called Efficient Capital Corporation (ECC), which provided accounts receivable financing to corporations and funded that credit through a commercial paper conduit which ECC administered. ECC was sold in 2006 and the ECC conduit was one of the very few non-bank ABCP issuers was not affected by the market disruption in 2007. He founded the predecessor firm of KWC in 2007.

Principal
Prior to joining, he was the Chief Investment Officer of Dundee Bank of Canada. He has been working as a KWC principal since 2009. From 2001 to 2006, he was the Head of Credit Portfolio Management for National Bank of Canada where he had oversight to maximize the risk-adjusted return on the bank’s $4 billion portfolios of corporate loans. Dan established the bank’s centralized Credit Portfolio Management function and sat on the Deals Committee, which reviewed and adjudicated every corporate loan. New measurements of bank-wide loan value were introduced and advanced portfolio-level risk models were implemented to identify industry and geographic risks, which were then hedged using credit derivatives.
